Hi, I am Nadra, founder of Inspired Travel.
I am guessing you’re here because you feel it’s time for a change. You’re tired of the grind, juggling endless responsibilities, and sacrificing the things that matter most. I know exactly how that feels.
Everything shifted for me after I had my son in 2024. I returned to my role as a Director of a national charity and a mere 5 months later I was made redundant. My salary gone, overnight. The thing is, even before I was made redundant I could feel the shift. My maternity leave felt like an easy way to remove me before I even came back.
I quickly realised that I no longer wanted to be a slave to the 9-5 especially when it seemed totally inflexible, unjust and simply not designed with working mothers in mind. I had already had to reduce my salary by 20% to cover a gap in childcare, that was as flexible as I could get. I thought about the future and I decided that I just couldn’t live with the constant juggle and judgement.
When someone approached me on Instagram about an online travel business, I was intrigued. Like a lot of people I already booked holidays, trips and excursions, I did the research, compared websites but I had no idea there was a way to earn from them.
I made the decision to give it a go. What had I got to lose?
Discovering this changed things for me not in a flashy, “quit your job tomorrow” way, but in a real-life way. I am building a secondary income, saving money on my own travels and have a small but loyal client base. More importantly I have a sense of purpose, am connected to an amazing community and I have a plan for the future.
Building an online business isn’t a get rich quick scheme, it takes dedication and patience, but I know I’d rather pour my energy into something that can fit around my life rather than constantly feeling stressed about how you fit your life into a rigid 9-5.
I am now building multiple income streams remotely, I am determined not to return to traditional work and I am committed to helping as many women as I can start their own travel businesses. As far as I am concerned in a society that isn’t moving quick enough to close the motherhood penalty and gender pay gap , it is time to take matters into our own hands!

But the numbers tell a different story.
Women in the UK still retire with significantly smaller pensions than men, largely because of career breaks, part-time work and the motherhood penalty.
Women approaching retirement have 48% less private pension wealth than men. The typical woman can expect over £5,000 less private pension income each year, receiving just over £100 a week compared with more than £200 for a man.
Government research published in 2026 found that men’s and women’s private pension savings begin to diverge after the birth of their first child, largely because of changes in women’s earnings, hours and working pattern.
